The Scented Garden Private Day Spa is set in the rural village of Orston, Nottinghamshire, and has been created within buildings dating back to 1785. It is connected to a family home where we have lived for over 30 years. When we first moved here the house was derelict, the gardens were wild & overgrown, and the barn now housing the swimming pool was a cow byre. But there was a lovely energy to the place, and we have enjoyed renovating the house and garden & bringing its natural style to the fore. Over the years many people have commented on the sense of peace and wellbeing that they have found here and it was from this foundation that I was led to create the Spa.

The challenges of the last year have shown us how important relationships and the opportunity to connect with others are to our wellbeing. It is my hope that the Spa will be a life affirming space where guests have the opportunity to ‘Connect, Balance, and Thrive’ in their own unique way.

The intention is that each day offers guests a space to connect to their ‘happy place’ through laughter and friendship, stillness and nature, the joy of sharing a beautiful meal or from the deep sense of peace and relaxation that comes from a lovely treatment. We hope guests will find that from that energy of connection they have naturally shifted towards Balance, a place of wholeness from which they can Thrive. I know this reflects my own journey, the garden was definitely my ‘happy place’ during lockdown and connecting creatively with nature helped keep me balanced and happy in challenging times.

I have enjoyed creating a space that stimulates all the senses, where guests can kick back and relax into a special time together, and I have enjoyed bringing together talented teachers and beauticians to weave their magic through the day.

It would be my pleasure to welcome you and your friends to The Scented Garden and to make your day together a very special experience.

Spreading ‘Well Being’ across the world

The Scented Garden is delighted to share its profits with other families who are less fortunate.

Ten years ago Caroline launched Friends of Kianjai Kenya, a small charity working to empower and uplift the most vulnerable in a rural community north of Nairobi.

Since then the charity has worked to develop permaculture farms at Special Needs schools. These farms provide a sustainable source of food in a community which has regular food shortage. In 2021 we also opened the doors to the Rehema Early Intervention Centre, a unique place where children with Cerebral Palsy can receive much needed interventions, and their mothers and carers can experience peer support and respite.

We hope that profits from The Scented Garden will enable this work to continue into the years ahead.
